Adolescent and teen brains are not fully developed yet, and with the addition of alcohol use, the brain undergoes considerable structural and functional changes. The impact can vary by gender!

Even after an individual does reach the legal drinking age, a fully developed brain does not form until about 24 and 26 years for women and men respectively!
